This is just to name a few!

Physiotherapists are extensively trained in manual therapy which means we are “hands on” with our patients. This may include massage and joint mobilisation and manipulation, as well as muscle stretching which we achieve using a wide variety of techniques.

To complement our manual skills we sometimes make use of different modalities to reduce pain and inflammation including hot packs, ice, TENS, E-stim, ultrasound and laser treatment.

Acupuncture and trigger point therapy is also widely practiced by physiotherapists, Physiotherapists are highly trained in exercise prescription and often give our patients exercises to do at home to help resolve their conditions.

If you have any of the injuries or conditions listed above, a consultation with a physiotherapist is a step in the right direction!

What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage looks at what the client is presenting, and aims to alleviate the pain, discomfort or stress that the person is experiencing. By using a blend of different massage techniques, a Remedial Massage Therapist is able to effectively help a person maintain a feeling of well-being. Trigger point Therapy, Myofacial Release, Sports Massage, and Lymphatic Drainage are just some of the techniques that Jane has trained in.

Each person is treated as an individual, and will therefore experience a different massage from the next person depending on which area(s) is the source of discomfort. Feel secure in the fact that your getting the proper treatment for your body, not a standard massage that everyone gets. In the same line, some people may feel sore the day after a massage and then feel better, but others will just feel great straight away, but in each case, there has been a change.

It is important that once you are feeling better from the initial problem to get a regular massage once a month or once every 6 weeks. This will ensure that your muscles will be more relaxed, as well as allow you to keep your pain and discomfort at bay, and even manage your stress more easily. It is better to prevent the pain from recurring than to treat the symptoms, think of it as an investment into your health.

Common ailments that Remedial Massage can benefit include Tension headaches and migraines, muscle pain, tension and/or discomfort, stress and sleep problems, just to name a few.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is also available if required. Many pregnant women experience a lot of pain and discomfort in their lower back, glutes, legs and shoulders, especially as the pregnancy progresses. The general consensus is that care should be taken in the first trimester, but it is safe to get a massage from a trained Massage Therapist. If you have any concerns about getting a pregnancy massage, please consult your Doctor before hand.

Remedial Massage can also be used in conjunction with other modalities, like Physiotherapy, Chiropractic Therapy, Osteopathy, Acupuncture etc, quite effectively to help the person get better. These modalities complement each other very well. If you have any reservations feel free to discuss it with your current practitioner, or you can call Jane with your query.

You also get to choose from 7 different Badger Balms to be used during your massage, if you like them and would like to purchase one for yourself or your friend, we do have them in stock too. For more information about Badger Balm have a look at their website:

What is Holistic Kinesiology?

Holistic kinesiology is a simple yet extremely effective Natural Health Modality. It aims to balance the whole person: physically, emotionally, bio-chemically and energetically,  to improve health, wellbeing and vitality.

Through gentle muscle monitoring, the practitioner is able to identify the patterns of stress at the core of the issue and use the most effective methods of clearing them, getting to the main issue instead of just treating the symptoms. This means that results will be long lasting, even permanent, not just short term band-aid measures.

Holistic kinesiology combines the use of many different techniques to help the client reach their goal, and improve the presenting issues. It has been known to help people with a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, stress and emotional matters. Techniques used can include Traditional Chinese Medicinal Principles, flower essences, homeopathy, Neuro-Lymphatic points, Neuro-Vascular points, and reflexology just to name a few. Each session will use different techniques depending on what the individual is experiencing at the time, not one balance is the same.

*Special Offer: Initial Kinesiology – Receive 30 minutes of your consult free

Some Private Health Funds have Kinesiology listed for rebates if you have the extras package, but you need to take your receipt into your Health Fund to get the rebate. If you are unsure, please contact your Private Health Fund Directly.

Does your mum seem overly stressed and unable to relax? Maybe you should get her a Kinesiology Gift Card for Mother’s Day so she can get to the root of the problem and help herself feel better in body, mind and spirit. We also have hand made Gift Card Holders available to add that personal touch.

Sugar Detox

Sometimes with Kinesiology I’ll recommend that you go find a nutritionist or naturopath to help you find which specific types of supplements or nutrients you may need in your diet to help you with your goal or issue. But that’s not the only thing a nutritionist is good for.

Lisa Snowdon is a nutritionist who has different programs that can help you feel better in life just by making simple changes in your eating habits. Below is just one of the programs that she’s running, you can actually do it online if you don’t have the time to go into a clinic due to your busy lives. Go to the link at the bottom to have a look if the sugar detox is right for you.

“Our most popular program that kick starts your journey towards better health and nutrition. Processed sugar is one of the great evils of modern day diets. Excessive sugar consumption can lead to a long list of debilitating and often life threatening conditions. But breaking the sugar addiction is not necessarily easy.

Our sugar detox program is a great way to let your body start the healing process, shed weight (it is not uncommon for people to lose between 3 and 6 kilograms in two weeks), cleanse your system and start feeling great.”
